Give Stocks & Securities
Turn your investments into a lasting investment in Jewish life.
Your generosity helps Chabad of Kirkland bring Jewish learning, celebration, friendship, and community to children and families throughout Kirkland.
Donating appreciated stocks or securities is a meaningful way to support this mission—and it may offer valuable tax advantages.
When you donate eligible appreciated securities directly to Chabad of Kirkland, you may be able to avoid recognizing capital gains that would otherwise arise from selling those investments. You may also qualify for a charitable income tax deduction, depending on your circumstances.
Your investments have grown over time. Now they can help Jewish life grow for generations to come.
How to Donate Stocks
Making a gift of publicly traded securities can be as simple as contacting your brokerage firm.
Step 1: Instruct Your Broker
Ask your broker to transfer the shares directly to Chabad of Kirkland using our brokerage transfer information.
- Brokerage Account: Fidelity Investments
- Account Name: Chabad of Kirkland
- Account #: Z40108242
- DTC #: 0226
- EIN (Tax ID): 81-4575781
Please confirm these instructions with Chabad of Kirkland before initiating a transfer.
Step 2: Let Us Know About Your Gift
Brokerage transfers do not always include the donor's name.
To help us identify your gift, acknowledge your generosity, and provide appropriate documentation, please notify us when you initiate the transfer.
Include:
-
Your name and contact information
-
The name of the stock or security
-
The number of shares being transferred
-
The approximate date of the transfer
-
Any particular purpose you would like your gift to support
Step 3: We'll Confirm Receipt
Once the securities have been received and identified, we can acknowledge your contribution and provide the appropriate charitable gift documentation.
For tax purposes, the date and value of a securities gift depend on applicable IRS rules and the method of transfer.
Planning a Year-End Stock Gift?
If you would like your donation to count toward the current tax year, we encourage you to begin the transfer well before December 31.
Brokerage transfers can take several business days, particularly during busy year-end periods.
Please consult your broker and tax advisor regarding the timing and tax treatment of your gift.
Giving Physical Stock Certificates
If you hold physical stock certificates rather than securities in a brokerage account, please contact us before mailing anything.
We can help coordinate the appropriate delivery instructions with our brokerage firm.
